This year James Rowland is bringing Revelations, the final instalment in his popular Viking story-telling trilogy, to the Edinburgh Fringe. We caught up with him to find out how he’s feeling about the show.
How are you feeling about finishing the Team Viking trilogy?
Delighted. It has been and will continue to be a huge part of my life but I’m very happy with the shows and looking forward to making other things.
How has your relationship with the shows changed over the last three years?
Ha! Well, I’ve been doing it for ages now. The nature of time and memory means that I don’t have a reliable answer to that but I feel now very lucky to have been supported by friends and audiences and to have found that I can do something I love as a job.
What is it about storytelling that made you want to keep coming back to it?
The moneeeeeyyyyy. No, the main part of it is that people have enjoyed the shows. Watching a play is a small part of someone’s day let alone their lives but if people find something worthwhile there then that’s it really.
What are you most looking forward to at the Fringe this year?
Friends.
What’s your top tip for festival goers?
If you enjoy a show then ask the people involved for their tips.
Anything else you’d like to add?
It’s interesting that you’re called Theatre Bubble. In so many ways Edinburgh Fringe is a big ol’ bubble, but bubbles are beautiful and they always burst before you want them to.
Revelations is on at Summerhall’s Anatomy Lecture Theatre, 17:40, until 26th August (1hr10, excluding 13th, 20th). Tickets are £10.00 (£8.00 concessions) and available here.
